Sammaan Capital Cleared in PIL Probe; Not Named Accused
By Business Desk
Sammaan Capital confirms it’s not an accused in a PIL-linked investigation, with EOW confirming full loan recovery from borrower groups.
Sammaan Capital has clarified it is not an accused in any ongoing investigation related to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) concerning its former promoter, Sameer Gehlaut. The company’s statement follows a stock exchange filing that detailed findings from various regulatory bodies. This confirmation provides a crucial update on the multi-year scrutiny.
EOW Confirms Full Loan Recovery
The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Delhi Police confirmed Sammaan Capital successfully recovered all loans, including interest, from five borrower groups mentioned in the PIL. This detail was part of a status report filed on August 11, 2026. The report indicates a significant resolution of the financial aspects under investigation.
- Five borrower groups repaid their loans.
- All loans were recovered with interest.
- The EOW status report was filed on August 11, 2026.
CBI Probe Focuses on Former Promoter
The Supreme Court directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to examine allegations in an FIR registered by the EOW on December 15, 2025. Sammaan Capital’s advocate, Nalin Kohli, stated that the CBI’s probe targets Sameer Gehlaut and associated entities. Sammaan Capital is considered a ‘victim’ in this investigation, not an accused party.
The FIR specifically names Gehlaut alongside several prominent groups. These entities are at the center of the ongoing allegations. This distinction clarifies Sammaan Capital’s role in the broader inquiry.
- Sameer Gehlaut
- DLF Group
- Vatika Group
- Americorp Group
- Chordia Group
- Reliance ADAG Group
Agencies Grant ‘Clean Chit’ to Sammaan Capital
Investigations by both the EOW and CBI found no wrongdoing on Sammaan Capital’s part, as all loans were repaid with interest and accounts closed. Advocate Kohli emphasized that various statutory agencies have examined the allegations over the past seven years. These bodies have collectively provided a ‘clean chit’ to the company regarding these matters.

- National Housing Bank (NHB)
- Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA)
- Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI)

Ownership Transition and Continued Cooperation
Sameer Gehlaut ceased to be the promoter of Sammaan Capital and divested his entire shareholding in 2023. The company is now under the control of Abu Dhabi-based International Holding Company PJSC (IHC), which has committed a $1 billion investment. Sammaan Capital maintains it has no connection with Gehlaut since his exit.
The company has pledged to continue cooperating with authorities in any investigations concerning the former promoter or other entities. This commitment underscores its transparency and adherence to regulatory processes. The transition in ownership marks a new chapter for the company.
