Banks across India will experience varying operational days this week, with many branches observing closures for up to three days. While most public and private banks, including SBI, HDFC, ICICI, and PNB, were closed on August 16 due to Sunday, the upcoming week brings additional non-working days.
Immediate Week’s Banking Schedule
According to the Reserve Bank of India’s holiday calendar, banks are scheduled to operate for four to five days during the week of August 17-23. Standard weekend closures will affect services on specific dates.
- August 22: Fourth Saturday closure.
- August 23: Standard Sunday closure.
Beyond the standard weekend, a regional holiday is also slated for the current week. This specific closure impacts a northeastern state for a local observance.
- August 19 (Wednesday): Banks in Tripura will be closed for the birth anniversary of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur.
Upcoming August Bank Holidays
The latter half of August includes several more bank holidays across various states, impacting services for different regional festivals and observances. These closures extend into the final week of the month.
- August 25 (Tuesday): Banks in Kerala and Andhra Pradesh will be closed for Milad-Un-Nabi/Milad-i-Sherif and first Onam.
- August 26 (Wednesday): Closures for Id-E-Milad, Baravafat or Milad-un-Nabi, and Thiruvonam in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Telangana, Manipur, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Delhi, Bihar, Chattisgarh, and Jharkhand.
- August 28 (Friday): Holiday for Raksha Bandhan in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, and Himachal Pradesh.
