AMFI Simplifies Mutual Funds for New Indian Investors
By Business Desk
AMFI launches new initiatives to boost mutual fund accessibility and understanding for first-time investors, women, and diverse groups across India.
Hey there! If you’re just starting your money journey, you know how important it is to understand where to put your hard-earned cash. The Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) recently announced some big steps to make mutual funds more accessible and easier to understand for everyone, especially first-time investors like you.
AMFI unveiled these new investor education initiatives on its 31st Foundation Day in Mumbai. These efforts are all part of their well-known ‘Mutual Funds Sahi Hai’ campaign, aiming to boost awareness and participation across India.
What AMFI Is Doing for You
These initiatives are specifically designed to include women, first-time investors, and households in smaller cities, along with members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and microfinance communities. It’s all about making sure more people can benefit from disciplined, long-term investing.
Tuhin Kanta Pandey, Chairman of SEBI, highlighted that mutual funds are key for households to help grow India’s economy. He stressed the importance of strong governance and responsibility, especially for new investors and groups who haven’t had much access before.
Sundeep Sikka, Chairman of AMFI, reinforced the industry’s dedication to making long-term investing available to a wider group of people. This means improving both awareness and access for you and others starting out.
Key Initiatives to Watch Out For
Let’s look at some of the key numbers showing how AMFI plans to reach more people:
They’re planning around 20 workshops in partnership with AMFI-NISM.
These workshops will cover 10 to 12 cities.
The goal is to train 10,000 mutual fund distributors on ethics, compliance, and responsible conduct.
Through the AMFI-Sa-Dhan initiative, 500 Investor Awareness Programmes are set for five states.
These programmes aim to reach 25,000 participants.
They also plan to establish 100 ‘Nivesh Sakhis’.
Partnering with Pinkathon, they’ll promote financial awareness among women in 15 cities.
This includes 52 Pinkathon Day events.
Beyond the numbers, AMFI has several other initiatives in the pipeline to help you learn more:
The ‘Bharat Nivesh Mela’ will be organized in Tier-II and Tier-III cities.
These events will teach you about SIPs, compounding, asset allocation, and how to prevent fraud.
They’ve also partnered with Pinkathon, led by Milind Soman, to focus on financial awareness specifically for women.
Plus, the AMFI-Crisil Fact Book 2025-26 was launched, showing their commitment to education and inclusion.
Ultimately, these steps by AMFI aim to deepen mutual fund participation across India, making it easier for you to start investing and secure your financial future responsibly.
