Amfi Boosts Mutual Fund Access for New Investors
By Business Desk
Amfi launches new investor education programs to increase mutual fund penetration among first-time investors and women, focusing on ethical distributor training.
If you’re just starting your investment journey, the Association of Mutual Funds in India (Amfi) has some big news for you. Amfi recently launched a series of investor education initiatives specifically designed to help more people, especially first-time investors and women, understand mutual funds better.
These new programs are all about increasing mutual fund penetration, particularly in smaller cities and among underserved communities across India. Amfi is taking a multi-pronged approach to make investing more accessible and transparent for everyone.
Training Distributors for Ethical Guidance
A core part of this effort involves strengthening the guidance you receive from mutual fund distributors. Amfi plans to conduct approximately 20 workshops across 10-12 cities, aiming to train 10,000 mutual fund distributors.
This training will focus on crucial areas like ethics, compliance, and preventing mis-selling. The goal is to ensure you get reliable, trustworthy advice when you’re exploring mutual fund options.
Key Numbers from Amfi’s Initiatives
Here’s a quick look at the scale of Amfi’s plans to reach new investors:
Distributor Workshops: 20 planned across 10-12 cities.
Distributors to be Trained: 10,000.
Investor Awareness Programs (with Sa-Dhan): 500 across five states.

Reaching You Through Awareness Programs
Beyond training distributors, Amfi is directly engaging with potential investors through various awareness programs. They’ve partnered with Sa-Dhan to hold 500 investor awareness programs across five states.
These programs aim to reach 25,000 people and establish a network of 100 ‘Nivesh Sakhis’, or investment friends. This network is designed to provide local support and information, helping you navigate the world of investments.
Amfi will also pilot the ‘Bharat Nivesh Mela’ in five Tier-II and Tier-III cities, creating accessible forums for financial education. Additionally, they are extending financial awareness programs specifically to women through Pinkathon events organized in 52 cities.
These initiatives mean that whether you’re in a big city or a smaller town, Amfi is working to bring financial education right to your doorstep, helping you make informed decisions about your money.
