Hospitality Sector Gathers in Bengaluru

The World of Hospitality Expo (WHE) 2026 recently concluded a three-day event in Bengaluru at Tripura Vasini, Palace Grounds. This major exhibition served as a premier sourcing hub for the Hotel, Restaurant, and Catering (HoReCa) industry, bringing together professionals to explore new products and services.

Organized by Mumbai-based Incredible Fairs and Media, a company founded by seasoned tradeshow professionals, WHE facilitates industry connections and knowledge exchange. The organizing team includes Steena Joy, Prateek Sahay, Rajan Nair, Dattaram Kandalkar, Satish Dange, Suchitra Chanda, and Ruchi Sinha. The company also hosts events in Goa and Mumbai.

Key Industry Trends and Challenges

The expo highlighted critical needs driving the restaurant and hospitality sector, such as innovation, productivity, visibility, reliability, quality, and cost control. Solutions focusing on efficiency, automation, safety, transparency, sustainability, and market appeal were prominently featured.

Current consumer trends in India indicate a selective spending approach, with a strong preference for value-first memorable experiences. This includes a rise in premium casual dining, chef-led concepts, curated beverage programs, tasting menus, and supper clubs. Dining experiences are increasingly seen as entertainment and social currency, fostering demand for authentic, artisanal, and locally sourced offerings.

Margin pressure remains a significant challenge for the industry, with rising costs for labor, energy, and food. Operators are actively seeking energy-efficient kitchen infrastructure, electric cooking systems, smart facility management tools, and predictive maintenance solutions to lower operational expenses.

Technological Advancements and Digitalization

Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are transforming hospitality operations beyond basic Point of Sale (POS) systems. There is a growing demand for integrated operating platforms that combine inventory management, workforce scheduling, revenue management, procurement, guest engagement, and predictive analytics.

AI is increasingly deployed to automate routine tasks, optimize staffing, forecast demand, and enhance profitability. Furthermore, the industry is moving towards greater visibility, consistency, traceability, and cost efficiencies in supply chains, with farm-to-fork sourcing networks and quality assurance systems gaining traction among exhibitors.

Innovations accelerated during the pandemic, such as the rapid adoption of Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) business models and contactless technologies for self-service, continue to shape the sector.
