The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has announced an extension to the construction timelines for national highway (NH) projects, now allowing up to six years for completion. This adjustment will apply to all national highway projects bid out on or after May 6, 2026.

According to a circular issued on Monday by the ministry, these timelines will be normative for projects under engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) mode, hybrid annuity model (HAM), or build-operate-transfer (BOT) mode.
