LatAm FinTech Funding Surges

Latin American FinTech funding surged by a massive 64% year-on-year in Q1 2026, hitting $575.3 million across 26 deals. This boom was primarily fueled by significantly larger individual investments rather than an increase in transaction volume.

Regional Performance Highlights

  • Brazil maintained its lead as the region’s FinTech powerhouse, securing 40% of the top 10 largest deals.
  • Argentina experienced a notable rise in investor attention, accounting for three of the top-10 deals despite broader economic fluctuations.
  • In contrast, smaller or emerging markets saw a reduction in top-tier deals.

Pomelo Secures Significant Capital

A significant highlight of the quarter was Buenos Aires-based payment infrastructure provider Pomelo, which secured a $55 million Series C funding round. Co-led by Kaszek and Insight Partners, this investment brings Pomelo’s total funding to $160 million since its inception in 2021.

Pomelo plans to utilize the newly acquired capital to optimize its credit card and issuer processing solutions. The company also intends to introduce next-generation financial products, including stablecoin-native card options and advanced payment tokenization tools.
