Finweek KL 2026 unites 1000+ EU-ASEAN delegates in Kuala Lumpur (Nov 11-13) to forge fintech partnerships and capital flows amidst new regulations like MiCA and DEFA.

Finweek KL 2026 is set to establish a pivotal EU-ASEAN institutional fintech corridor, gathering over 1,000 delegates, including more than 500 C-level executives, in Kuala Lumpur from November 11 to 13, 2026. This three-day summit at the PARKROYAL Collection Kuala Lumpur is strategically designed to facilitate cross-border deal-making, capital deployment, and robust partnerships within the rapidly evolving financial technology sector.

The timing of this summit is crucial, aligning with significant regulatory advancements poised to reshape the global fintech landscape. Europe’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework is taking effect, while the ASEAN Digital Economy Framework Agreement (DEFA) is anticipated for signing in November 2026. These regulatory shifts, complemented by the BIS-coordinated Project Nexus linking instant-payment systems across the region, collectively create a robust structural foundation for deeper EU-ASEAN financial integration.

The summit’s agenda is meticulously crafted for tangible outcomes, featuring a closed-door Capital Alignment Roundtable that directly connects European venture capitalists, family offices, and corporate venture arms with promising ASEAN scale-ups. Further components include curated bilateral meetings, a dedicated ASEAN–EU startup showcase, and structured soft-landing support mechanisms designed to ease market entry in both regions.

Discussions will span critical, forward-looking themes driving the digital economy, encompassing tokenization, real-world assets, payments infrastructure, Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs), and cross-border settlement. The program also delves into the foundational technologies of AI and data infrastructure, alongside the burgeoning field of Islamic digital finance, reflecting the diverse innovation landscape.

Prominent figures from the fintech and regulatory spheres are confirmed to speak, including Stéphane Latouche from Banque de France and Dato’ Dr Amiruddin Abdul Wahab, former CEO of CyberSecurity Malaysia. Convened by Finweek and Fintech Valley Europe, a pan-European fintech network, the event is co-organised on Day 0 with IDEA and features the Malaysia Fintech Radar research initiative, further mapping the regional ecosystem.

This convergence of regulatory momentum and institutional capital signals a structural shift towards greater interoperability and investment across the EU-ASEAN axis. Finweek KL 2026 stands as a key operationalisation point for this emerging financial corridor, providing a framework for understanding the mechanisms driving cross-continental fintech growth and the implications for capital flows and market structures.
