Man Pleads Guilty to Manslaughter in Fatal M4 London Crash

Maninder Singh Brar, a 28-year-old Indian-origin man, has formally admitted guilt to two counts of manslaughter stemming from a deadly road crash in west London on June 1. The incident, which involved his black BMW and a white Volkswagen Golf on the M4 in Hillingdon, resulted in the immediate death of Mohammad Hagila, 63, and the subsequent passing of his wife, Dil Jan Hagila, 62, who succumbed to her injuries in hospital days later.

This case underscores the profound legal and human costs associated with reckless driving, transforming a traffic incident into a criminal prosecution with severe implications. Brar’s admissions extend beyond manslaughter, including causing death while uninsured, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, handling stolen goods, and failing to stop after the collision. Acting Detective Inspector Fiaz Janjua characterised the event as “truly tragic,” emphasizing the devastating ripple effects dangerous driving inflicts upon communities and families. A third individual, a 29-year-old man, also sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the collision. Brar was apprehended on June 6 and is scheduled for sentencing at Isleworth Crown Court on August 23.
